Yamaha makes the same 3 quads basically unchanged for over 10 years !! But if Honda doesn't update there quads even though nobody else is it comes to you as some big shock, liek the world is ending....oh gosh I am not smart enough to use a 300EX's reverse procedure...the 400EX doesn't have reverse....boohoo I had to get off my big lard **** and turn it around cause I didn't think where I was going. The updated Recon is not fast....what an extreme shock. It's slow for a reason, it's a beginers quad.

The 400Ex is NOT selling fine.

We carry all the brands and the 400EX outsells them all year after year big time, BUT in the past few months, we haven't sold more than 6 at the most.

Why??? Because everyone is anticipating the Z400.

After it's release, those who think they waited for nothing will end up with the 400EX.

It's going to be an interesting next 6 months. Time will tell if the 400EX has suffered or not.

But don't think that Honda has gave up....yet anyway.

The dealer show is in September and they DO have at least one new quad to be announced then. But no one knows for sure yet if it is a sport quad or not.

I'd bet a dollar that new quad isn't a big class sporter.

The 650EX that was built two years ago has not been cancelled. The last I heard on it was from a few months back. They had 4 of them built for testing and Bruce Ogilvie [one of the contributors to the 400EX] rode it that weekend for his input.

I know that sounds crazy and unbelievable, but that was told to me by the same guy who told me about an ATV with the Hondamatic transmission 4 years ago!! I was even skeptical until the Rubicon came out over a year later!!

The 650EX may not be the new quad, but I wouldn't count it out completely. I'm not at least since this guy has never lied to me before.

A quad similar to the 250EX except based off of the Rancher or Foreman engine is also a hot rumor within Honda. There is a new "sport tread" tire that Honda sub contracted out this past spring. After seeing the announcements yesterday with the SAME tires is even further proof that SOMETHING "sporty" is on the way. Even if it isn't a "true" sport quad.

When you add the little things that go on in the industry, and the little things you see and hear, you can always tell when something is going on......especially when no one wants you to know about it.

I'm not going on a limb here and saying yes or no on any possible quad. I'm not Honda and I don't work for Honda.

Besides,...I still have to hope that Yamaha hasn't changed it's plans with the Wolverine and Kodiak....because if they have....my rep is screwed...LOL

I was watching the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Spain on television last weekend and one of the commentator was lamenting the fact that Honda had spent over $200,000,000.00 on their new F1 engine but had yet to win or even finish a race yet. That seems like a lot of money to me, maybe they can't afford the R&D for ATVs because they're blowing so much on F1.
