250R QUESTIONS.

1.What is the shifting pattern of the 250R? When you shift into first,do you shift DOWN into first then up into 2,3,4,5?
2.What is the proper oil to use?
3.How to change the oil?
4.How much oil to put in?
5.How often to lube the chain?
6.Where is the air-filter?
7.What kind of oil do I use to oil the air-filter?
8.Does it have a gas or oil filter?
9.If so,where are they?
10.Do I have to mix my own gasoline,or just buy a high octane rating like 93?
11.When I buy my 250R,will it have a casesaver on it?
12.Where is the casesaver if it does have one?
13.Is it kickstart or electric?
14.Do they still sell owners manuals for 250Rs anywhere?
15.Are there any other maintenance procedures that I need to do.

1) 1 down N 2 3 4 5 6 up
2) any 2 stroke oil, I am sure there are better ones than others
3) you don't, the oil is mixed with the gas that lubricates the engine and clutch
4) its a ration of gas to oil, ??? I beleive 32:1 is what honda specifies ???
5) I do it after every couple of rides, don't use the sticky pj1
6) under the seat
7) if it is a k&n, use the pre charger kit they sell. I always have k&n's
8) ummm, no oil filter, not sure about gas

1)1 down, and 5 up
2)I would recommend a 10-30wt for the gears (inside case), and a high quality synthetic for the gas such as Golden Spectro, or Amsoil 2000 fully synthetic. You can mix both of these at 40:1 without any problems.
3)There is a bolt on the bottom of the motor. Loosen the bolt and let the oil drain out.
4)If my memory serves me, it is .63 quarts ( motor oil, in the case). 2-stroke oil will be ~ 12oz to 4gal of gas.
5)lube the chain after every ride.
6)Under the seat.
7)Depends on the air filter. If it is a K&N, they have their own special oil. If it is a foam filter, get sticky foam filter oil for it (do not use motor oil).
8)Often there is a filter in the petcock in the tank. If not, you can easily install one in the fuel line. It will cost $2-$3. There is no oil filter.

12)Case-saver sits ahead of the front sprocket to guard the chain from the case (thus the term "case-saver"

Since the rest of your questions have been answered, I'm not going to reanswer them, but it take about 2 minutes to mix your own gas/oil, so there isn't a real problem. Run a good 2 stroke oil. I prefer Golden Spectro mixed 50:1. Don't mix your gas/oil at 20:1 like the bike says, mix it at what the il Manufacturer reccomends. For the oil in the transmission, make sure you don't get the "energy saving" additives. People on here recommend Castrol GTX 10W40. Good luck, and I'm guessing you're new to quads, so if you break something, don't hoky something up out of metal hangers and duct tape!

15. Lube rear linkage, change the oil, etc.
Now, if you're really lazy, don't get one. Get a 400EX, a little less maintenence. If you're too lazy for a 400EX, consider a Polaris 'cause you don't even have to shift them. If you're too lazy to maintain a Polaris, stay home and watch the tube.
