GTV, I agree, it's fun to drag race just to play around, and the rider can make ALL the difference in the woods.
WIScrambler, all I have to say, is, I've ridden with 1 DS650, and yeah he rode real fast up and down the gravel road, that quad is fast no doubt. But I didn't see much of him after a few minutes up the trail in the woods. Both of those little fenders on the front tires were partially missing after a couple tight squeezes thru some trees.
Oh yeah and uh... well.. uh... ya know my dad could beat up your dad and I'm rubber you're glue, bounces off of me and sticks to you.....
Just kiddin'

This just makes me laugh, when the 400EX was being designed in probably 96, 97 there was no competition, the banshee but thats only good for the people who really know how to ride them well, not a fours stroke rider. When the 400EX came out in 99' it desimated all currently production quads in handling and was the most powerful sport bike you could buy. Now 3 years later quads have taken a BIG leap in power yet people compare the POWER of the new big machines to the 400EX that is atleast 250cc smaller. Everyone aks like Honda has no idea how to make a fast quad and like they are junk or some BS like that, when Honda comes out with there new quad it will outhandle everything out there now and have similar power....most likely.

I strongly agree with killer 250r.He has got a point .When they start thinking and start spending more money in the sport bike research they might come up with another 250r.They have spent more money in the utility research coming up with the 650 rincon. With tech. in that bike imagine what they will make for the sport bike in the near future.

350rcherdude; I had a bad @ss, completely restored 350x with a Powroll Big Bore kit on it, Super Trapp Exhaust, K&N Filter and lot's more, and my Prairie 650 could run just as fast if not faster! And on top of that, the 650 can go a heck of allot of places that my 350x couldnt go! I have done what you mentioned, I removed my racks, and I am about to install some Maxxis All Trak tires on it. Make no mistake, the Prairie 650 accelerates very hard, and mine will reach a top speed of 67 mph! It can't compare to a 400ex on an MX course obviously, but in the real world of trail ridding, it can accelerate as hard, top out just as fast, if not faster, throw roost, and get side ways with the best of them. And when all that is said and done, the Prairie 650 can still crawl over big rocks, up incredibly steep rough hills, and through mud that would swallow a 400ex whole. I sold my 350x a little while after I bought my 650, because I no longer had a need for it. The 650 is that good!

350rcherdude, check out GNCC Racing and go to the results section, pick a race (any will do), click on the am overall quad, and look for the first utility racer(will be either a Modified or an Unlimited).
I'll gurantee that one of those will be in at least the Top 15.
plus the muddier the race the better they do!!
Mike Penland, Scott Kilby, Brock Parker, etc. these guys do this for a living and take it seriously.
