Yes, the R has a DG silencer, K&N, after market carb, holeshots, etc. The Grzz is stock. He kills me on pavement, but that's not the point. Point is, while he was spinning, I was going..in 2WD. Grizz stock, rider weight the same.

Well that DG silencer sure doesn't gain power.......

And was this race to topend or was it just a shirt drag? Tell your friend to sit his @$$ back on the seat and let her rip. IF your jus talking about a SHORT drag it could be possible, BUT if you talking any distance at all I call BS!

One of the magazines had a story recently on a Prairie 650 they took to the dunes. They took the racks and some of the plastic off, put a smaller sportier wheel & tire combo, put a new exhaust (CT I think) on it and said they were beating stock Raptors in drag races with it.

Let me say this before you all think I'm crazy or just stupid. I love my P-650 and in my mind the only thing that my P-650 compares to a sport quad is the power, I've owned a lot of sport quads and the P-650 is far from a sport quad and when compared to my old KX500 everything else seems slow in the dirt. I could have bought a sport quad instead and almost did, not to mention they was cheaper. Since I'm older now I do more exploring than high speed roosting riding, but the urge to ride fast and hard comes on strong at times and the P-650 just isn't as fun as a open-class sport quad going fast. I've been looking for a quadzilla, don't care if it runs or not because I'm planning on restoring all back to factory specs.

Yeah, how long was the drag?? If its long enough for the R to top out,the griz would stand no chance.

KevinM:

That story about the 650P is in the June issue of ATV Sport. This is what they did to the Prairie.

Motor Work - They added a Procircut T-4 exhaust, and the only other mod was the removal of the engine-compression braking feature.

Weight - They removed the front drive train, mud flaps, racks, and the top part of the front bumper.

They were able to get rid of 80 pounds, but gained some back after installing 25 inch Maxxis All-Traks and Douglas wheels with OMF beadlocks and inner rings.

This is what they said about the Prairie on the track and in the dunes. This is what I read in ATV Sport!

"We found the Prairie to be extremely quick, particularly off the bottom end. And that was in sandy soil with the harder compound Maxxis tires. Acceleration seemed equally strong whether starting in low or high range, possibly because we were getting a fair amount of tire spin. Brenan tells us that, with the eight-paddle Skat Trak tires they ran at the Glamis dunes, hook up was great and they can pop wheelies even at speed." Brenan told us. "The machine is really a sleeper and people were surprised when we'd beat stock raptors with paddle tires." That is exactly what I read out of ATV Sport!

The 650P sounds like it is a bad A$$ quad. I think it can beat a 400EX, but I have never seen it so I can't be to sure.

I'm not here to say which quad is better, I just thought I would write about the story I saw in ATV Sport, so some people could see what it's like. I hope that Kawasaki puts this engine in a sport frame. I don't know if it will smoke all the other big four stroke sport quads, but it sure will be up there hanging right with them.

Just my .02 cents worth...

I've got two buddies that own piped 400ex's and they raced a stock Prarie 650!!

The guy on the p-650 said, "anyone want some of this?"

Both of my buddies said, "right here - I'll take ya"

They lined up with the p-650 in the middle on a good hardpack surface...

The flag was dropped (by me) and off they went...

The 650 pulled ahead immediately and stayed there - the two 400's finished almost dead even...

And the 650 won by 2 bike lengths at 100yds!!!

I never would have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well drags aren't the 400EX's greatest quality.
