Anyone total a 4 Wheler and have had dealings with an insurance company? I am wondering how the payoff is calculated. My Sportsman is a 2001 with 300 miles/40 hours and 10 months old.

It varies from one company to another but usually they pay 80% of book value. That's from my experiences with doing the estimates anyway.

We are not a Polaris dealer so I don't have anything with the value. Maybe someone on the Polaris forum can help you further.

When I sold insurance and did claims, it would depend on several things. THe first thing they will do is run a credit check to make sure you didn't kill the bike due to financial reasons. Than they will get an estimate for the repair. After that the following may apply, differs from state to state.

1. What is the blue book we would pay that minus the deductable.
2. You could also have them replace with a like machine, tough to do.
3. Have all your upgrade recipts this MAY add value that you can claim.
4. Explain all the important issues with the claims person in a nice way.

Read your policy and get informed first off.

Good luck,

Smitty
