Why Honda does not want to do it? I am sure there is a huge market for it. If it were for the lawsuits why would they have more lawsuit with a 250R than with a 400EX? Or more than Yamaha with the Raptor or Banshee. The 400EX is pretty close in performance to the 250R and the Yamahas are Faster and don't handle as well (meaning they are less safe) and Yamaha is still producing them. What would be the real reason why Honda would not do it? It just doesn’t make any sense.

I agree. Design a CR250 motor with a counter balancer, and pop it into an EX frame.
This would sell like crazy, even with the kick start.

Honda is steering away from two strokes just as the other manufacturers are. The signs are already there. Look at the dirtbike market.

Honda dropped the CR500 this past year.

Honda has released the CRF150,CRF230, and CRF450 in that same 12 month period. Along with a CRF250 to be announced in September.

the Crf150 and 230 are a joke!
Theres no way they would be competitive on any motocross track.

The CRF150 and CRF230 are not motocross bikes, but trail bikes

The CRF250 and CRF450 are.

The CRF150 is Honda's response to the TTR125/125L.DRZ125/125L.KLX125/125L
The CRF150 has a bigger engine and electric start...something the competition doesn't have.

I posed this question to my local Honda dealer. He figured it would cost close to $30,000 to build a R from scratch. Many of the OEM parts are no longer available, like the frame. Not sure if all engine parts are still out there.
Let's face it. Honda is not going to make another "R" at all. They may make a high-performance quad, but I guarantee you it'll be a 4 stroke if they do.

Look at the dates of those posts, they're from 2002. I don't think any of those people even come here anymore.
