I was going to pull the swingarm off my '85 250r to replace the swingarm bearings, the problem is that I can't get the pivot bolt out. I've tried beating it out, but still no success.

What do I do? I don't see a way of getting it out. Help!

well if it's been in there along time then it's probably pretty rusted up.you will probably need to beat the hell out of it to get it to break loose.you may ruin the swingarm bolt in the process, but you can always order a new one.

This happens very often, the only advice I could offer is to try spraying liquid wrench. Let it sit for about an hour. If that doesn't work try heating it up with a torch. If you still can't bang it out after that I'm afraid you are going to have to cut the bolts ends off and drill it out.

Good luck

I've tried, with a short handled sledge. I don't care if I ruin the bolt, I just want to get it out. I beat on it for quite a while, and it didn't move.

What's the next step?

Will heating it up with a torch damage anything?

Is there any way to cut it out?

I've tried something similar to Liquid Wrench called Nuts Off, didn't work.

If youon't have a plasma cutter, you can use a welding machine to take it off. When you have the welder in your hand, instead of having it right next to the metal, keep it further away and it will make a blowing sound and it will put a hole in the metal. Do this slowly and you can cut the end off with out ruining the arm.
Of course its a make shift idea, but it will work.

Just take it to your local shop and ask them how much it would cost for them to get it out. That is what exactly happened to my Blaster and that is what i did.

You should take that bolt out every six months and use anti-seize on it.
Also if you dont get it out now it will only get worse!

The same thing happend to a friend of mine. He used a sawzall to cut it out. It took 4 cuts to get it off. He then had to replace the bolt and all of the bushings and dust seals. Good luck!
