3 Wheel Conversions
#1
OK. I read the thread about the 250r conversion and everybody seems to have a pretty definate opinion. I looked at the bike on E-Bay and you are all right. It does look like "dog squeeze".
But do all of them look so crappy? I recently made the jump to a quad after riding 3-wheelers for probably 25 years. I have a 350x that I tried to sell here at home, but bikes like that apparently aren't appreciated in this neck of the woods. I couldn't even get $1000 for it. So I too was looking at maybe a conversion kit so that it could be something my wife and 10 year old daughter might be able to manage. Would it be worth my while to try to sell it perhaps on e-bay? It is in pretty good shape, but not perfect by any means. All of the plastic is good, some is replacement. It is stock except for a PowrRol exhaust.

ALL the kits and homemade conversions totaly suck @$$! To save some money you could buy a 250X/300EX/250R ect rolling chassis and fit it in there....safe and will save you some $$ powrol makes a kit to put the motor in a 250X/300EX frame, they are cheaper to buy then a 250R rolling chassis and the frame rails don't need to be spread like on the R.

Do you have to be a motorhead to do this Powrol kit? I'm not helpless, but I don't do a ton of mechanical work either. I have access to a machine shop so having tools or machines isn't a problem. I just don't want to get neck deep into something and discover that I'm actually over my head.

I cant believe that you cant sell that 350X! Those are bikes are really easy to sell down here in the south, if you want to get rid of it, you might want to put it in cycle trader or something like that, i know that they arent easy to come by down here in our neck of the woods. Is it stock? Ive seen some of the big bores trike and boy were those things fast!

If you buy the complete kit you shouldn't have a problem, I am almost positive it gives detailed instructions on the whole conversion...if you can plug in some wires, tighten some motor mounts, put on a pipe, hook up a few cables ect you should be allset. As long as your not stupid when it comes to tools you should be able to do it.

Thanks for the info Killer. I'll look into that.
As for selling it, I've been told there is a pretty good market for these bikes in other places, but I'm not sure the shipping would be worth it. That's got to add a couple hundred to the cost.
