You should be able to get anywhere from $1200-1500 for the EX engine. Maybe more if someone was desperate.

Check with Curtis Sparks for the CRF engine. Honda isn't selling them seperate from the bikes right now, but somehow, Sparks seems to be able to sell them. I don't know what the deal is there.

I answered this last night for someone else.

Go to the "New Dirt Wheels....Z400 Test" topic here on the Honda forum.

Kevin1422 The CRF450r motor is available from your Honda dealer without the bike. It's cost is about $3100-$3600 depending on how well you know your dealer. I flew to Phoenix to meet with Dan the owner of Lonestar racing to build a chassis for my CRF450r.Those guys are great!!

I've seen 350x, crf450, yz400/426, and trx250r motors all put in a 400ex frame. No matter what, you're pretty much looking at a custom exhaust, motor mounts, and intake. I have heard that the CRF is a pretty good match, aside from mounting up the radiator. A project I always thought would be awesome would be a Suzuki LT250r motor in a 400ex or 250r frame. You'd get the awesome power of an LT, with the handling of an 'R.

Click Here for some pics I took of Tim Farr's CRF quad last time he was at the local track.
