I have a 300ex with supertrapp ids2 pipes and a k&n air filter. I am planning to buy a cam, value springs, high compression piston, and a CDI box. I heard TC racing cams and value springs are good. Do you agree if not please reasponed and tell me whats better. Also tell me if I should try other stuff before that. Thank You.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have a Big Gun, K&N with no airbox and it really perked up but now I am planning for the next step in performance. I was leaning towards Powroll for the cam, springs, etc.

Are most about the same or are there strong opinions out there one way or another about the best choices for engine mods?
Thanks

There is a difference between, TC, FST, Megacycle, Powroll and web cams.

Each engine builder has cams that work best with there different kits the sell. Also with the different porting they offer. megacycle and web cams offer usually like three different cams from all around to full race.

To answer your question on how beat a 400 EX say, top end porting and top end cams.

Me my self I like the mid to top porting and will be going with FST's cam. Not because I think his is better or any thing it's just on my quad and the type of power where I want it his will match up better with what I have.

Going with porting and/or cams nocks the heck out of the bottom ends, hense more compression to offset it.

If you plan on doing the work your self I HEAVILY suggest yall go with powroll.

I have used engine kits from just about every one. I can make comments good and bad for just about all of them. But for the home builder or the more advanced builders on thier own machines powroll can't be beat by any of them as far as the straight forward kits and technical sapport you will get from them.

Like I said I've had I believe all the kits and put them in all sorts of quads and bikes, kill the head and hart ache before it starts www.powroll.com

Thanks I was leaning towards Powroll anyway. For my riding, I NEVER get a chance to reach anywhere near top speed. I ride mountain forest service trails that are narrow, rough and steep. I was thinking about going with one size smaller front sprocket but I think first gear is rather short as it is so I am not sure I want to do that.

Was wondering if Powroll is designed for performance improvement from bottom to top or is it targeted to improve one or the other by way of cam design? I really don't need more top speed at all just more guts and torque in short bursts.

The powroll kits are from bottom to top. It realy is a great kit.

There is little tricks and they can throw in some more or modified versions of thier goodies but those kits they sell are very good and very reliable.

I use thier kits in the XR and EX models. They are super reliable. My son currently uses the full kit for the 80cc XR and it performs very well on the MX track and is also good enough to lug around in the woods with.

I have been using thier 415 kit for the EX and it is the same way. Very competitive on the MX track but still safe enough to lug around the woods.

I have not done any of thier 300 EX kits, but I have done the 300 EX with other engine builders kits and they were not to much on the woods at all. But I knew up front they wouldn't be.
