snorkel?

i 've heard alot of people talk about snorkels on a bike but how do you make em or put em on a bike and also how does water get in the motor?...i know that sounds stupid but polease respond..thanks raven

When I speak about a snorkle, I'm talking about the tubing of sorts that goes from the front of the nose piece to the airbox to let air in. Personally, I remove the whole thing and toss the airbox lid, but I don't ride in muddy/wet conditions. I have found you get much better airflow without it/them.

raven that depends on what you are talking about, there is a snorkel like trapper was talking about but it sounds like you are referring to something else. on some big bikes ( grizz is good example ) people install snorkel kits on the tranny and the airbox ( im assuming ) so that they can go through deeper water/mud without anything getting in the airbox. if you get into water that comes above the airbox you risk getting water in the box and then sucked into the engine. if you get water into a belt driven tranny then the belts can slip and then you arent going anywhere. hope this helped.
