Tired of the mess draining the oil makes on the frame? There's a drain plug at the back of the engine under the driveshaft that makes less of a mess when changing the oil. You'll have to put a jackstand or something under the front bumper so all the oil drains all out but it's a lot less messier/easier to clean up than using the bottom plug.

Hope this helps,

Yeah, I found that one on my Recon a while back. In fact its all that I used before I found out where the main one is. this was way back before I knew anything about quads and tried doing everything on my own.

I asked them about that plug at the dealership when I purchased my Recon 3 years ago because it looked just like the drain plug. The dealership said only one drain plug on the Recon and I let it go and now I have the biggest mess under the Recon.

There is a whole world of weird stuff growing under my engine and they say oil pollutes.

Thrash,

No filter, just some internal screen.

Never have touched internals yet and my 99 recon has over 350 hours on it.

I change the oil a lot though.

thanks for the onfo on the back drain plug. the wifes 250 has a full skidplate that didn't come with a hole for the drain plug. just jacked up the front and it drained perfect.
thanks.
