LT500 VS. Raptor
#22
The LT500 is not all THAT. I am not a expert on them by far, but most appear to put 45hp to the ground. A lot of raptor are above that point now. For every fast LT you find you will find 100 built raptors. Once you get a shee above a 420 on alky, there is very little that can touch it. Just the way it is, the LT is more hype than thruth. That said one of these days if i run across a clean LT500 i will add it to the collection. If you really want to go fast a 500plus cc shee from trinity is where it is at. We are kicking that around now. It will mop up where the 686 does not get the job done.

Well, ok.
I have heard from different people/forums/tudors performance that
the stock LT500 puts about 53HP to the ground.
NOT unrealistic for a 500CC powervalved 2 stroke.
I am looking forward to meeting with Roostking for some dragracing fun.
He is not stock, being ported and all... but,
BEFORE I got my Zilla rebuilt, ported, polished, head swirled.. ect, I absolutely blasted away from a stock banshee up competition hill at Glamis on memorial day 2001. (I THINK it was memorial day, COULD have been presidents day)
I dont care. Its all about having fun.
When Roost and I meet up, hang out, and race some folks (and eachother)
He and I will post the results of our night.
Its all about having fun, man. WIN SOME, LOSE SOME!!

One of my best friends and riding buddies has a LT500. Its in the shop right now getting redone and I cant wait to ride it now. Anyways you do everything to a zilla motor that you do to the banshee,(port, polish, different heads, alky, etc) I would put my money on the LT. Yeah a big bore banshee might be fast. But one of the very few big bore zilla's are faster if they are built right. oh, and a raptor has no chance against a zilla. spec wise, the faster raptor Ive heard of is the red 770 in dirtwheels on NOS. And it said that motor was at like 95hp. I know they said they could of made it faster but it wouldnt of been reliable. Read the specs on a zilla with NOS. They are well above 100hp easy!!!

Here we go again... These comparisons get ugly, and don't prove a darn thing!!
If ya really want to know what machine is better.... GO RIDE THEM BOTH, and develop your own opinion. (THere's more to life than who's the fastest up the hill)
WHo spent the most $$$$ Has the fastest quad...
Stock for stock... No comparison. The banshee is very de-tuned..
On the flip side... the banshee responds better to perf. mods.
I'll agree, the modified banshees run REALLY hard for what they are. (Hard to believe a pair of little 175cc pistons run like that)
Most LT500's are lazy (at least on the top end) Unless someone that knows what the heck they are doing and can work a little magic to really wake the giant.
They are stump pullers in low and mid range (But that's not where drag racing happens).
They can be made to run, and run hard! But, they don't look nearly as impressive when you compare power output per cc as opposed to the banshee.
We won't even talk about reliability!
For me, the 500 is my choice due to the tractor-ability (So it is 'all-that'). I don't have to ride it hard to go fast, I can lug it like a 4-stroker, and it will still do 3rd gear wheel stands at will...
+ the ride quality is great!
Every time I ride a banshee, I feel like I'm sawing on the shiftlever constantly to keep it in the power. (Makes me tired just thinking about it)
No such thing as being in the wrong gear with the Zuk.
There is life after shooting hills!
Run what ya brung!! and quit 'yer sniveling!

Haha! Duneaddict, I agree on the LT's low end and mid.....very addicting and a ton of fun.
