400ex carb on a 300ex??

im going from a modified tecate 4 to a 300ex so i want alittle more power. i wwant to know if the 400 carb fits right into place of the 300? or will it take some midifications? also if i do this will there be a biug difference? thanks for any help

I just picked one up for my 300. The only problem i see so far is the 300's air boot wouldn't fit over the carb. I fixed this by heating the boot and making it fit! As soon as I get it jetted, I'll let you know how she runs.

If you are paying for the carb, it just isn't worth it. A buddy of mine gave me the carb, and with a 148 main jet, I might have gotten a 1/2 a bike length more, if that. I'll have my motor ported and polished and I plan on gettin a cam here shortly, so the carb may work a little better then.
