Well last week i was fixing my carb... and this week my X is smoking. The smoke is white and the idle is about 3000 RPMs or better, its way to high. I may have messed something up in the carb but i dont think so. My neighbor says the piston could be hot. But hell if i know. Please help me out. I might be taking it to another guy to fix it for me. thanks!!

maybe your rings went bad. on my qaudsport they went bad in a matter of a day. it just started smoking one day and kept getting worse. so i put new rings in it a that did the trick. hope this helps.

First of all why were you fixing your carb what was was wrong with it? Second usually if the X's smoke that means that the vavle seals are gone and need to be replaced. They cost about $20 for all 4 of them. Any other ?'s e-mail me with them I also have an 87' I know just about everything about them. Thanks!

you said "white" smoke..that is just water, nothing to worry about... a high idle means you put the thorttle slide in backwards. Make sure it bottoms out all the way when you screw the top of the carb back on

You are burning oil and the valves.
The valves are not seating properly. The more you run the bike the more damage will occur. also make sure the oil level is ok at all times if not the cam will wear down and not open the valves all the way. Also do you hear any kind of tapping sound in the head??
