From reading all these shootouts and everything praising the Z400 I was almost convinced that the Z was better than the 400EX. That all changed when I went to the Suzuki forum. There were all these Z400 owners complaining about bent frames, A-arms, tie rods, axles, steering stems, etc. Until Suzuki fixes these problems, I would rather have an EX any day. If you dont believe me, go to the Suzuki forum.

2 Z household here. We got two from the very first shipment and the only problem so far is not enough time in the day to ride, and after twenty hours, they really start opening up. All that stuff, axles, a-arms, frames, can happen to any bike. We love ours. I have hit many a tree/stump with my rear tire, and nothin so far as bending. I've also nutted my fronts a few times with nothin wrong with the a-arms or anything like that. Anyhow, ride one for yourself, one that's well broken in. You might just change your mind. I know I did.

I have seen plenty of broke down hondas. Most honda riders do not post break downs in the public forum here. They pm each other. They do not want to tarnish the Honda repatation. It is all over rated. It used to be true when they were basic, no frills quads. Every honda that i owned was reliable because the breaks sux and they were slow. True story. I still have a trx250. Have not started it in 5 years. I could probably get it started in a hour.

Hispeed, have someone read the posts to you, because the bent frame,stem,a-arms etc. were damaged because of a crash. The only thing a little on the weak side besides your reading abilities is the axle which can and will bend if your letting it all hang out.lol

my z has had way less problems than my 400ex, hell the first ride it got rolled over slowly in the SAND and bent the steering stem and handlebars!!!!. i havent had one problems with my Z yet. i also believe one of the guys with all the bent stuff hit a DS-650 tank at 15mph i think that would cause some dammage if you hit it in the right spot. besides if your gonna jump and let it all hang out stock things are gonna bend or break, thats why there is a aftermarket

Well who really designed the thing is it a Kawasuki zxf400. Who knows. At least honda has their own R&D. Hell a 250r would smoke it any ways.

I'm also hearing alot on Suzuki forums about the lack of low-end torque, excessive tranny noise, and even tranny problems!
