400EX starter removal
#1
Has anyone heard of an aftermarket company offering a kit to remove the starter & batery etc to save weight by adding a pull or kick start to the 400EX or had there been any talk of a backup starter scheme being added on future 400EX models? There is probably at least 15 lbs in this area. I guess the difference in weight between the 250R & the 400EX could be made up in the battery, starter area of the 400EX. Just curious.
Thanks

you have enough money, you can do anything. But I have never personally heard of any kind of aftermarket backup starter for the 400EX.
About 6 months ago, I was interested in finding a backup starter for my 300EX. There are a few people that "claim" they have done it. But it requires drilling into the engine case for the kick start connecting rod. No thanks. The benefits do not out weight the future problems.
As far as shaving off 15 pounds from a 400 to keep the weight close to a 250r. You will have to do better than that. Because a stock 250r weights about 50lbs less than a stock 400EX.
