I have decided to buy a 400EX in May. What is a good price to pay for this machine. How does it handle and perform? Also can it blow a Warrior or 300EX away pretty easily because thats what most of my freinds have?

I paid around $5600 for mine so im not sure what a good price is but dude, a 400ex will smoke the s#it out of a 300ex and a warrior in a straight line race but it just handles so good that you really dont realize how quick they are. It would be a little different in the woods or on the track but the 400 would still easily in front. Hope this helps man.

No comparison to either machine. I paid $5250. Shop around and let them know you know the invoice is $4996. That helps cause there's no reason for a $700 mark up.

I just happened to find a dealer who had about 7 on hand. But it all depends on the demand in your area. The shop that is on 5 mins from my house wanted retail price plus tax. I drove 100 miles and saved about $900 bucks. Check all the shops with in driving distance. Good luck!

The 400Ex will only beat a 300ex if the 300ex is stock, unlike mine.

The 300EX will have to be heavily modified to compensate for the 16.5 vs 28 hp advantage the stock 400EX has. I would personally much prefer a stock bike with 28 hp vs a heavily modified bike with 28 hp.

Even with more HP the 300EX still has a 300EX chassis.

NO COMPARISON--- I sold a 300ex for my 2000 400ex. No way i'd go back. At the dunes the 400's with minor mods (pipes, jetting) was smokin the ds650's. The honda has good reliability rating too. Don't let them say you need reverse, you can get off and flip it before they get it out of reverse. It's also lighter than the 300. Its worth the 6K.

I don't think that you guys should be rippin down 300EX's the way you do. And just to clear some things up....
Dry weight. 300EX-365lbs. 400EX-375lbs.
Rear Wheel HP. 300EX-17.5HP 400EX-26HP
I don't care what the books say, these are the facts. Plus with the $800 bucks you save from buying a 400EX, you can build up that 300EX and have a woods rocket.
The 400 is faster on the track and in the dunes. But give me a 300 in the woods anyday.

Chris 00' red rocket(modded 300EX)

I love both quads, they both have different strong points....
