Yeh....If the Idea behind this post was to stir up some trouble...It worked.... Cause in all reality.... There is no way the 400 ex can even come close to beating a banshee. I have both machines....I am borrowing a digital camcorder this weekend...assuming we don't get the storm that is expected here in NY... I will record this and post the video streamed on the internet... ( I will post the address when it happens)
I have never been taken off the line by a 400ex... and I'm not knocking the machine...I own both (400ex and Banshee) If you hammer the 400 ex off the line...There is a good chance your going over backwards...I don't know...Maybe it's just me... But I've been riding for almost 20 years now... I started around the age of 6 or 7.... My point is that I'm no pro....But I can ride...You will never beat my banshee with the 400ex unless you can really pound the trails...But forget about that whole drag racing thing. .....
I will never believe it... If you would like...I will take the video you make....and make it look like the 400 won!!!! hehe

There again...and you will let me know right? You never answered my question...Do you really want to race me??? I can make it happen.

 

OK...OK, i admit it!! he can't drive the banshee to the fullest capabiltity and i can drive like a bat out of hell. he would have caught me in about another 200 yards. he always pops up on the start and i roll on the clutch and fly out of the gate but man was it funny to see the look on his face when i was in front of him. but, once i get in front, he won't be commin' back around!! die hard honda fanatic!!!!

I wanted to contradict a few earlier posts about hp on the Banshee and the 400EX. Right in my hands is the January 2000 Dirt Wheels with dyno information of a stock Banshee, stock 400EX and a Hot Seat modified to the hilt Polaris 400L. on the dyno, the Banshee put out 39.8 hp, the 400EX put out 28 hp and the highly modified 400L put out 45 hp. This is all measured on a chassis dyno.

So tell me again. How did that 400EX beat the Banshee without having more hp????

 

What do they mean by "hilt" on the 400L? I mean Jerry & Jacks 400's are putting out like 60-65hp. Hilt must be a matter of opinion.

I agree that the 400ex can trash the banshee hard. We are talking 28 HONDA hp. There is a formula for this.
28HP HONDA
28 x 2 = 56hp
because its a honda

38HP YAHAMA
38 / 5 = 7.6 hp
The amount of riders on the banshee at the time. (required amount to make it handle like a real quad)

So, if you do the math...you can see why the 400ex is faster.
