2003 Foreman 450 ES disappointed
#1
I know I cannot compare a built 250 2 stroke sport quad to a utility, but I am very disappointed in the performance of my new Foreman. It has 7 hours on it an I can only get 45 mph out of it and it hardly power slides in 2x. I figured it would have gobs of torque but I think my quadracer had more. Plenty of gearing, feals like it could pull a building down in first, but in third if you juice it, it just kind of lumbers along.
Will it gain some top end as it breaks in?
I know some of you guy's will say why do you need top speed on a utility quad but I was riding on a fire road and 45 feels real slow.

what you are experiencing is about on par for a foreman. my rancher es runs about the same speed from 0 to top speed. top on my rancher is 48, bone stock and very used. i gained about 2mph since it was new till it was broke in. i know its not a foreman but performance wise they are very similar as the extra weight of the foreman offsets its 100cc engine gain.

I also have a Foreman 450 and if you have enough road, it will get up to 50 eventually, but it sure hits the wall at 45. This quad really needs a 6th gear. The speed is defiately gearing limited, not engine limited. I bought it know full well that it would be slow. It's really the ultimate utility, more tractor than atv.

Well all the reviews I read raved about the 450ES like it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I knew of Hondas reliability and that was the final deciding factor, so I bought it.
I like the quad, its alot of fun but I am just a little disappointed in the power and speed.
I guess you have to be from Canada to be satisfied with a 350 4x4 YAWN

Malochala...when i'm having a bad day it's probably best for me not to post anything!!...LOL....hey 2stroke....i'm not disappointed with my 350...you see, after researching quite a lot, i found that the 350 was the bike best suited for me....had i wanted a bike strictly for work i would have bought the 450...had i wanted speed i would have bought a raptor...had i wanted comfort i would have bought polaris...but you see, i researched...where i ride, it's rarely safe to go 50 mph....the low gear on my 350 will provide all the torque i will ever need...the list goes on....so you see, i researched, therefore my thousands of dollars didn't result in a purchase with which i was disappointed....i certainly would see myself as an uninformed consumer if i love doing powerslides and went out and bought a honda 450.
