Painting My Ruby..
#1
I am so darn tired of my "Honda Red" Rubicon, I want to paint the plastic some other "cool" color and was wondering if anybody here has any experiances with plastic painting? I am sure I will need to scub the "release" agent of the plastic with Comet and a scub pad, I also know I will have to "Bulldog" the plastic or something similair to make it stick, what is the best procedure for painting "flexiable" plastic? I need to know about prep, primer, should I use basecaot/clearcoat? please any help would be great.

Do yourself a favor and just buy the color plastic you want if it is avaliable. Painting plastic is never successful unless you only baby your ride in the sand dunes. I would definitly not recommend it on a ute quad.
Having said this I know you will do it anyway or other will now jump in and say they have done it successfully but one ride through the slop or through some brush and it will start peeling and flaking.

I gotta back these guys up. I paint cars professionally, and the type of plastic used on quads does not like paint, irregardless of preparation. It may look good for a while, but it does not hold up very well. Buy the color of plastic you want.
