TRX300 and a K&N filter and/or Cobra exhaust
I have a '95 TRX300 4x4 and I was just wondering how much benefit, if any, I would see if I installed a K&N High-Flow air filter. I also have a spare Cobra exhaust that I've not installed (I bought it cheap) and I am wondering how that would affect my performance as well. Thirdly, what can I expect if I replace both of these items at the same time? Will I need to rejet my carb with either/and/or these upgrades? Should I expect these mods to negatively affect my gas mileage much?
Thanks,
JC

With the K&N, or combo of filter/pipe, you will definately need to jet up to stop from running lean. The reason you got the Cobra pipe cheap is they are lower quality, and usually louder than most people like. Install them both, won't take long to do, probably jet up at least 2 or 3 sizes and see how it runs, you will probably need to do some fine tuning, but you should see more throttle response, better power curve, and no real effect on mileage,by letting it breathe and expell more easily, you are raising efficiency,as long as the air/fuel ratio stays where it should, power and mileage will both be happy.
