I had the opportunity to try the front diff, with the right fron wheel in the air today. The left front wheel with the traction pulled and spun as advertized. The free wheeling right front wheel did spin, but not excessively so.
I then turned around and drove it the other way, with the left front in the air and the right front with traction. Again the left front wheel did spin, but not excessively, and the right wheel pulled me across. Both tests were done on dirt with no mud.
I'm convienced the new diff is working as advertized, at least mine is. Hope this helps those readers that are considering the Rancher, in my case the ES model. As this is my first ATV, I'm delighted with it.
At 56 years of age, a friend ask me why I bought my ATV. My response was to have "something warm and vibrating" between my legs. You guys are
right, IT"S FUN!

Did not get to test mine in too much mud, other than a straight run with all wheels chucking wet, mulchy stuff. All wheels were working.
My trails are in the rocky Pocono mountains. I did get in situations where one front wheel was in the air. Speed was at a crawl, with no wheels spinning. Forward progress was smooth and trouble free. I'm pleased.
The real test will be in the winter plowing 10 + inches of snow.
P.S. Lablover, Clever ATV prose. How about when the cooling fan comes on? An added bonus! :0)
