Rancher ES shifting noise
#1
Have any other Rancher ES riders experienced noise when shifting their ATV's. It sounds terrible, but has made the noise since I got it a week ago. I let off of the throttle and then press the upshift switch, then hear the noise of the shifting servos or shifting motor.
Just wondering if other Rancher ES owners are hearing the same thing.
THANKS!
As one responder has indicated, this sound is a "metallic clunk" when the shift is made. I am letting off of the gas when I press the upshift button, then right back on the gas.
THANKS to all that have read and responded.

My friend bought a 4X4 ES 2 months ago (he has put about 650 miles on it) and he hasn't experienced this problem. Also, my brother in law bought a 4X4 ES 1 month ago (he has about 200 miles on it)and he hasn't seen this problem either.........
It sounds as though a trip to your dealer for a little adjustment is in store for you. It should be under warranty.

Hey I am glad you brought that up. I got to ride a new Rancher Sunday. One of the guys in our group just bought one. It is a fine machine. The one thing that everyone commented on though (esspecially the ones with 450ESs) was about a loud CHA-Chunk that it made when shifting. You could be 2 Quads ahead of him in line and hear it. We did not have another Rancher to compare it to only the 450s so we did not know for sure if it was right or not. But it was much louder than the 450.

I think you are hearing a correct noise. There is a "wind up" metallic sound followed by a hard click. This is normal. It is the sound of the gear selection. When you let off the gas, you just hear it more because there is no load on the gears. I think you are fine. If you still question, then have your dealer check it out. It is hard to describe sounds in text...
