Your friend really needs to get his Rubicon checked because we have seven in our group and they all hit 55 no problem on the flats and on good solid ground 58mph and down the big hills it will hit over 60!
My rubicon will keep to the a stock prairie up 40 kph and smoke a kodiak 400 from a dead stop.

We are only at 1000 ft elavation and all our Rubicon's are in stock form.

Why is everyone so concerned with the top spped of a sport utility ATV?? I own three four wheel drive vehicles and don't know what the top speed of any of them is. I can tell you how fast they will tow my ATV's up the canyon roads though or what trails in Moab, UT they are capable of doing. I do have a 5.0 Mustang, and I can tell you what the top speed of that is. A sport utility ATV at 50 mph is as stable and safe as my 79 Ford 3/4 ton 4x4 is at 120 mph.

I would think that what these machines are designed for most would be concerned more about 0 - 20 mph times, not WOT.

 

Specta, agreed but i gotta admit that those long gravel roads threw the dessart sure do get boring listening to a over-reved engine at 50MPH.... my rubicon gets twitchy at anything over 40MPH on the gravel but my friends new 02' Dodge cummings is quite happy at 115MPH[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
