Default Westco AGM Battery Inquiry

I'm in need of a new battery for my wife's Recon 250 as the OEM Yuasa "died" over the weekend. Recharging is of no help. Anyway, shopping the net tonight I found a company selling AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries. Their web site says "it's not an ordinary replacement battery but a specially designed rugged and powerful AGM battery. Some manufacturers are now beginning to install AGM batteries at the factory". Price certainly is very very good $59.00 vs 75.00 for a Yuasa and it includes free UPS shipping. It's a maintenance free, sealed battery. Just curious if anyone out-there has used this type/style battery and if so anything good/bad to report? Just FYI the site is batterystuff.com Thanks. I await any return posts.

Default Westco AGM Battery Inquiry

Yamaha started using these batteries about 4 years ago in some of their street cruiser bikes.

They are no more longer lasting than convential batteries despite all the reterick praising them to be better.

I say if it's cheaper than your standard replacement, go for it.

The Yuasa brand batteries are still the best out there. The one's that go prematurely are either not maintained correctly, used regularly, or was not serviced properly when the acid was installed........which is done at the point of purchase.
