300 ex vs. Mojave
#1
I am trying to decide whether to buy a Mojave or a 300 ex. My problem is, when i read the shootouts against the 2, it seems like the magazine is biased. Basically I am asking you which one is better. I know that this is the honda forum and youll probally say the 300 ex, but please be honest b/c this is alot of money for me and I really want to get the best ATV for the money. The only 2 Im looking at are the mojave and the 300ex. Ive ruled all other ATVs out of the picture. Im 5'8" 125 pounds. The riding I do is mainly in a sand pit. I usually ride up and down the huge sand hills, so Im wondering which ATV has more climbing power. I also want to know which is a better jumper, better handler, faster, more fun to ride, and more reliable. Thanks alot

I've owned both and I can honestly say I like the 300EX better, handles better, has electric start, and feels lighter. The suspension on the Mojave is set up stiffer and takes better hits, but doesnt offer the ride that the 300EX does. And also the 300EX will fit taller people a little better than the Mojave. Both are great quads though.

The electric start and reverse feature is worth the ticket alone.
I had one for 2 years and wished I would have kept it as a second sport quad.
It does really well in the tight woods trails.

My friend has a mojave and i have a 300ex. They are both very reliable machines. Both have reverse, mojave has DOHC but 300ex has more cc's. Mojave is cheaper but i don't enjoy the ride as much. If you want to be comfortable then get a 300ex. The 300ex also can hit good size jumps just with a tightening of the suspension. Another thing which can be a good thing or bad thing, the 300ex can wheelie so good but the Mojave is hard to get up unless you pop the clutch. I can shift in my wheelies and none of my other friends with blasters, mojave, or warriors can do it. But they can do it on my quad. As for dunes, bothe are good but the 300ex is a little lighter so it will stay on top of the sand more. But the mojave is $600 cheaper. I could of gone either way but my dad personally likes Honda even though he has had 2 Kawasaki motorcycles(a 900 4 stroke and a 500 2 stroke which booted). But the 300ex has electric start.

Had a Mojave, would definitely get a Honda instead. The Mo can be a bi+ch to start when hot or cold, it has the world's worst air cleaner design, was heavy and slapped together compared to Honda. Small size for your height, too. Paid $1600 for it well used. In the long run, save your bread and buy the red.

I bought a 300EX in may and so far so good. The fun factor on this machine is so high. You can more fun on this machine than any other on the market. As for the mean green crappy machine its heavier [it wieghs the same as a raptor] isn't as sporty and I doguht if it is as reliable. I have had my 2002 300EX for about 5 months nothing wrong yet. Its a good woods machine to. It makes my buddies so mad when putting it in reverse and getting there selvs out of jams. Man will it mud even with stock tires. It will stay with my dads honda 300 4x4 with blackwater and a 2inch lift till you get to the gumbo and still goes a little bit further but then your screwed. The acceleration and speed of this machine is incredable for a 300 or 282 actually. The handling and susoension is great too. I ride mine really hard too and have had absolutely no trouble. There isn't a momen't when im not giving it hell. Just get the EX you will be so much happier.
kind words cost nothing but are worth much
