List Your Rancher 350 Troubles here....

I saw a similar post in the Polaris forum and thought it would be a good way to get an indication of the percentage of people who have problems, and what types of problems with their Rancher....please give the year, mileage, and problem....even if there are no problems let us know.
2002 Rancher S
400 km
The battery is apparently shot....and before that the speedo went screwy one day..idling in neutral...but the km/hr would increase if you gave it gas...for example, the bike was at a standstill showing 25 km/h...hasn't happened since....and she's cold-natured, but i guess that technically isn't a problem.

Only trouble we have had, was the electric shift would quit working on a winter ride.
It happened 3x that day. We had to shut it off and shift to neutral by hand. Then it would
work again. I think it was because of the snow and cold water hitting the electric shifter
up in front of the motor. We were also running hard and shifting alot at that time. Hasn`t
done it since. I read in dirtwheels mag. they had the same problem when testing the rancher,
but admitted they were riding very hard at that time also and shifting alot. Otherwise I really
like the rancher. Have considered trading the praire for another rancher. I have had belt trouble
with that. Everyone keeps telling me to work on it myself. But why should you have to work
on it. I bought it to ride. happy trails!

My battery gave up the ghost after a year and a half, I broke the reverse shift switch on some debris hidden in mud while mud bogging. No problems that I can really talk about.

Greatcanadian, sounds like you didn't do enough research on your quad before you bought it. If you had researched problems with the 350 Rancher you could have made a more informed decision.

Well that response is throwing me for a loop....i like my bike.....it's exactly what i was looking for...no problems other than what i knew about already...so far...or does this go back to a previous thread where i accused you of being an uninformed consumer....hehehehe...if that is true, did you still have your 450...any mods?....and how do you feel about it now...i know it's not the fastest but do you consider it fast enough?....it'w one helluva a workhorse that's for sure.
