List Your Rancher 350 Troubles here....
I know this is off topic, but is in line with the last post. I have a '98 Forman 450 and recently installed the Warn 424 Kit. Definantly the best investment for anyone still running full time 4x4 Honda's. Makes steering easier (no more sore arms - even with my 27" Blackwaters) roostertails a mile high, and a lot of fun blasting backcountry dirts roads. Also picked up about 5km/h top speed on average in 2wd.
Other mods include K&N Air Filter, steel A-arm skid plates, custom installed air horns, Warn 2500 lb winch, F/R Bumpers and all 3 projector style headlights from a Rubicon custom fitted.
No problems as of yet aside from routine maintenance and replacing 1 front CV Boot that was tore up by a stump in a Bog Hole. (Hence the purchase of the A-arm skid paltes!)

I have a 2001 Rancher 4x4 without the electric shift with about 800 miles on it. The only problem I have had with it concerns the choke mechanism. After the temperature drops below 30 the choke plate inside the carb freezes. At first I thought I had a seized choke cable. After removing the cable I discovered the cable was fine and instead the carb's choke plate was what was actually frozen. To fix I dropped some lube in the collar on the carb where the end of the choke cable attaches too. After a few minutes it unfroze and worked fine. Unfortunately, one week later I had the same problem. From this I realized not running my ATV for over a week with 30 or below temps I would get this problem time and time again. I live in New Hampshire and it get's well below 30 for a good 3-4 months which really puts a hassle on starting my rancher with no choke. I have taken it to the dealers around here and they've replaced this and that, unfortunately nothing seems to help. Any suggestions? Aside from the choke, this machine is a dream to drive, extreamly effortless and very nible. No problems with the battery or drive train.

2000 Rancher 4x4 ES 713 miles, Where do we start. I bearly get to ride mine due to it breaking so often. Electric shift gears keep breaking, went through 4 sets so far, the manual shift handle won't shift, smokes like a forest fire, had it bored and new rings twice, now the carb wants to flood for no reason. stuck in 1st gear right now and can't get it out.

Don't buy an ES! I have one with 100.1 hours and 470 miles and am having to replace the $370 Electronic Control Unit that Honda says will never go out. This is on a 2000 Rancher that doesn't get riden very often and Honda did not want to work with me on replacing this part at all. They (Honda) said the warranty had expired and they were not interested in how little it was used. This was my forth Honda ATV/motorcycle and I am through with Honda. I will not recommend buying a Honda nor will I buy another Honda. Now I don't know what to do with the one I have, because I don't want to sell someone a piece crap like Honda did me.
