Default how does a 440 stack up to a piped Raptor?

Last year there was a raptor pipe shoot out with a bunch of pipes somewhere between 7 and 10. 2 or 3 pipes put out 50 hp with jets and air box mods I think the CT Sonic was the highest with something like 50.3 hp.

Piped and jetted raps don't put out 50 hp. I have a stage one kit and im only putting out 47 hp and I spank piped and jetted raps. Maybe if you put some bigger carbs and a high comp piston with a pipe and jet kit it would put out 50hp but with just the K&N,pipe, and jets it won't put out 50hp.

The IMS 440 kit thing is only a 430cc. A true 440 will use a 89.5 piston in a 70 mm stroke. A HMF piped Raptor will smoke a IMS'er equal weight and rider ability. It just takes to much moola to make a competive EX... bottom line. You can throw all the Sparks, TC's , Trinity's EX's in a hat and you might pull out a winner. One thing is for sure....Any of you with fast EX's has spent mega bucks.

B2000. you couldn't be any closer to the truth!!!!
There are NO FREAKIN pipe only raps out there that are pushing 50 RWHP, NO WAY!!! I have had a 686 and now a 727 and I will tell you first hand that a true 50 RWHP quad is alot more then a piped Rap.

It's amazing how so many people could "buy into" this magazine garbage! It's garbage, no truth to any of it! Don't believe me? Take you piped rap to a dyno and you are in for a HUGE suprise. I mean HUGE!!! You will be soo disappointed that I would bet money that you'll be looking for a phone to call your pipe maker that said he could get you to that magic # 50. LMAO
I ask that if you really believe your making 50 RWHP on a piped only Rap, you seriously consider spending the cash for the dyno runs. Make sure to call Allen over at CT and that dam Dirt DOO mag and let them know how happy you really are, once you get done wipiing the tears from your face!

LMFAO

I'm not sticking up for the mags as you can often find contradictions in their articles especially shoot outs but when they post dyno results it's kind of tough not give it some degree of credibility. I mean there are enough people on these forums who act like just because they post or believe something it must be true. I'm not nocking anyone in particular with this I'm just saying when a mag posts dyno results it seems more believeable than someone just saying "That's BS because I know different". I don't know much about Raptors so most of my knowledge is second hand I try to listen and learn. I thought a 686 kits where getting into the 60's for hp and 727 kits could get around 70 or more hp.

dirtdigger- most (all) aftermarket shops must have a magical raptor that they test on. My first trinity 686 with all the bells and whistles and full exhaust hit 44 hp on a dynojet dyno. Motors number 2 thru 10 went from 45 to 55hp. Motors 11 and up have crossed the 60hp number. Moral of the story--- If you have a honest 50 you are moving and on a wicked quad.

440 means nothing. With 400ex's it's all about the 4 C's. Compression, Carb, Cam then Cubic centimeters. If you build it right, it moves.
