Castrol GTX Oil
I know a lot of folks that run castrol gtx 10w-40 in their atv's including myself. It's a very good inexpensive oil that does not make your clutch slip. Stay away from moly additves and oils with friction reducers. I run castrol in all our quads. $1.50 quart is not bad!

I still use OPTI oil. Its expeensive, but I only need to change the oil once a year, maybe twice for the amount of riding I do. A little extra for good oil will not break me!! We have a 15 year old Honda 1000w generator that has thousands of hours on it and it still runs like a champ, I attribute alot of this to the Opti.

What's the sense in spending more with you get nothing in return?

OPTI 4 is the oil carried by my local HONDA dealer. Blue botle white cap. 4l jugs are clear/white.
On the bottle: Product of Interlube international, Inc. Made in USA, Bellingham, WA. 98225
They also make 2 stroke oil as well. Since I don't own a 2 stroke I've never bought it.

OIL Types
BTW, any oil with the cold vs hot designation, (10W-30, 5W-30 etc.) has thinner oil and has viscosity enhancers. It's the only way you can get oil to flow in the colder months. If you aren't running in really cold weather, stick with basic SAE 30 40 or 50 weight oil.
The Opti stuff is pretty amazing stuff and worth every penny you'll spend on it.
