Default Run airbox lid with K&N filter? need reply quick

A salesman just told me that to run a k&n filter in my foreman 450, I can't use the airbox lid. I go in a lot of water and need a sealed airbox, can I use the lid or is he just pulling my leg? the way I took it was that the lid won't fit with the filter. what's the scoop? thanks for the info.

I have no problem putting my airbox lid on my 400ex with the K&N, but I am not sure about the foreman. One thing you can try is to put in the K&N and cover the airbox lid w/ duct tape (if possible) when you are in wet spots.
Good Luck~

Keep the rubber side down... Unless your just that good...

That salesman is a dumba$$! Of course you can run the lid on it. It is the exact same size as your original filter and a guy would be stupid not to put it on! I have buddies here that run K&N's with the lid on and it fits no problem on both their 400 and 450 Foremans and I plan to do the same when I pick my 450ES up in the spring.

thanks guys, I ordered the k&n power kit anyway. I called the guy back and he said that in order for the dynojets to work properly, you must run it without the lid for the bike to even run! I said it's a matter of re-jetting right, and having a good air/fuel mixture ratio. He paused for a bit, and I finally ordered it(best price around, the guy doesn't like selling aftermarkert, it's genuine honda parts for him!) what he said doesn't make sence to me. I know I will get it to work good. I also ordered a supertrapp IDSX exhaust. This is my friends foreman that I am fixing up for him in my college outdoor power equipment course, terrible rattle in the stock exhaust. anyway, thanks.

I ordered a second intake snorkel from honda for my 2003 foreman 450, it should help the breathing and not let any water in. It will go in on the other side of the airbox and tank.

I got it from Honda, $9.00. You have to shave a little plastic away from the bottom of it so it fits nice but no sweat.

With the K&N and the lid on, your limiting factor is going to be the amount of air the snorkle will let in. The second snorkle thing is a GREAT IDEA!!

You can definantly run the K&N with the lid in place, I have the same bike and works fine for me. Salesman sounds dumb to me!! I haven't touched the carb either and bike runs fine. Good choice on the exhaust, thats what I'm ordering for mine shortly as the factory piece also has a nasty rattle.

That 2nd snorkel sounds like a great idea, I'm ordering mine after work!!
