Has anybody purchased one? Have any shootouts been published including this pipe? Any and all comments welcome!

My bad, I noticed that the pipe is in both my Rocky Mountain and Dennis Kirk catalogues which I've had for months. Also, I just called Dennis Kirk and they said that they just sold out of the supertrapp on Dec. 16th. Thought there might be some info out there.

I don't know about the new pipe, but GTThunder tested the old one in their exhaust shootout. I wasn't particularly impressed with their performance or business practices. See the link above.

GTthunder is a great page because this guy has no interest in advertisers and calls it like he sees it, his exhaust shootout really lets you see how arrogant some of these comapanies are....

Guess I'll have to be the guinea pig on this one. I went ahead and ordered the ids2 silencer 6 extra discs and 160-170 main jets. I'll let you know in about a month. Two things to base my decision on 1) cost - I'm a hard working cheapster. and 2) Experience ... supertrapp has been making 4 stroke pipes for a very long time. Anyone know how long fmf or white bros have been making thumper pipes?

400exinfl,
I think you'll be well satisfied with the Supertrapp system. Altho I run a Curtic Sparks pipe on my Warrior, I run a Supertrapp silencer with it. It's the model previous to the IDS & I run 20 discs for more top end. I have talked to the tech at Supertrapp numerous times & was quite pleased with the knowledgible & courteous response I received from them.

Well, the pipe and cdi box are on, with vented airbox lid. I must say there is an incredible difference. Not sure how much is the cdi box and how much is the slip on supertrapp, but I really notice the difference. Also, this pipe came with 18 discs and I purchased 6 extra's, but ended up only using 2 extras. I'm running the stock front sprocket and believe it or not I didn't notice any bottom end deterioration. I think I may have jetted a little too rich (165) but this was my intention. Only two minor problems with the pipe: 1) two of the end cap screws were missing but I called supertrapp and they sent them out without any questions, and 2) the exhaust mounting bolt is a little too short (or I'm reading the directions wrong) but this will be easily solved with a trip to the auto parts store.

How is the sound level compared to other performance pipes or even stock for that matter? Also could you give us a complete run down of your set-up (including carb settings)?

The sound is much louder than stock, but I like the sound. It doesn't seem to be noticably louder than any of the other 400ex's at the track with after market (slip on) exhasts. There were both a white brothers and a fmf megamax there this weekend. My wife said that from the bleachers the sound sort of blended in, however I would not advise trying to "sneak" anywhere with this pipe. Also, right on the inside mount of the pipe is a sticker saying it doesn't meet epa noise level, i.e. it's not quiet by far. Here is the complete list of my mods:
pro taper bars
dg nerfs
21 holeshotes on .125 douglas in front
20 shredders on 9' .125 douglas in back
sprockets are stock
dg front bumper
12 1 inch vents in the air box lid
50 pilot jet
1 and 1/2 turn out on pilot air screw
165 main jet ( I think a little too rich, but the jury is still out)
stock needle in stock position
white bros cdi box
Supertrapp IDS 2 slip on silencer

That's it.
