450 forman ex shift problems
#1
A friend of mine is having problems getting his machine to shift after riding in mud, dirt, or sand. It seems that the electronic shift buttons get full of crud and then he is stuck in whatever gear he's in untill he can get to a garden hose. Once he sprays the shift buttons off real good he's able to shift again without any problems. Does any body know of a cure for this or had any similiar problems?

I have heard of this problem before with mud riders. This would be a common problem with any electronic switch. I would suggest to your friend to wrap a freezer bag around the buttons, this way he can shift normally yet prevent the mud and such from getting in the buttons.

Its the mud around the outside perimeter of the button that causes it to sick, not mud on the inside. Mine has done it twice in two years. You really have to get alot of mud on the buttons, or be in a lot of mud to even get mud on the buttons to keep them from working. The first time I took a little stick/twig and run around the slight groove around the buttons to clean them out and it worked fine. The second time I just keep playing with it, trying to push it in, and wiggle it till it worked free. Took about 5 minutes.
I have never had to actually spray it with water to free it, but I guess you could carry a spray bottle with ya?
