300ex questions....picking it up Tuesday.
Ok...we went to the dealership and we took a look at it.......the thing is modded out. It has a twist throttle....a different rear sprocket.....skid plates all around......maeir plastic...a high compression piston....and thats all I can tell.
I don't know how to maintain this thing.....what oil,or anything....I took it for a spin in the parking lot.....wow.
Anyway...how do I maintain this beast? (oooo a 300ex beast!).
Every time I went to stop the damn thing it would stall...I wasn't holding the clutch in when I stopped, that was probably it. What is the best 4-stroke oil to use? Besides changeing the oil.....what else is there to maintain? Any extra precautions because of the high compression piston?
I can't wait to open this thing up,it looks totally wicked.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Matienance on a 300EX is very basic, clean the air filter, change the oil, adjust the valves, lub the chain, and take half way decent care of it. I use 20w-50 SuperFlo in mine, I hear that thats not good for the clutch but so far its ok so I'll keep using it. Also, when you stop you have to pull in the clutch or else it will stall, its just like a car with a manual transmission. As far the any extra matienance with the high-comp. piston, I wouldnt know I don't have one.

I use 10W-40 in mine. 20W-50 is a little thick I think. As far as adjusting the valves only do it about every 100 hours or once a year. My bikes a different story since I have a lot of other stuff done to it. I adjust mine about once a month. Either way they are reliable as can be.
