A T-1 transfers at up to approx 1.5 meg. 1.5 meg is about 1,536K. Your dial-up is probably around 56k. Big difference!

The change I made will be most noticeable for people on a dial-up using Microsoft Internet Explorer as their web browser.

I also installed a new 3COM switch on the network yesterday and that should allow the web server to talk faster to the database server which will help our dynamic pages render more quickly during heavy loads.

I have to say that I've not noticed any real differance in loading speed. I'm using MSN browser and 56K dial up but we have really sucky phone connections where I live.

I'm on cable here....but generally for a while now i've noticed the forum pages load rather slow (a lot of times the same amont of tiem it would take on dial up or slower). I am noticing a, honest, big difference in the rate the pages have been loading since i've been on tonight. Not sure if its coinceidence or not....but they they are now comeing up almost instant. I'll keep an eye and try to pay attention to the speed...see if it stays this quick

The page loads are noticably faster. Before I'd give it a 3-4, Now a 8-9. Big improvement. I'm on Starband 2way satelite link, passing through a local distribution host in the den and finally through a wireless router using 802.11b to the kitchen laptop. So again - its noticeable.

Back when I was a kid - this was science fiction.....

I'm on DSL but I haven't noticed much of a difference in page loads. It seemed to me to be loading decent before.

Ramblinman,

What web browser do you use? Is it Internet Explorer and if so what version?
