I have a 86 trx250r with a wiseco piston and boyseon reeds. I have ather kmods but none that would make it go faster. just like a twist throttle aluminum mitchell wheels. I also have 18/11/8 holeshot mx tires. I am not sure of the gearing I bought It with the same sprokets and chain it has now. anyway I live on a service road that runs right along a interstate and the speed limit is 70mph. I can run right along side the cars but the service road is on a slight down hill. I would say mine does 68 mph.on a level surface. i weigh 135. It will beat my cousins moded 400ex on dirt and blacktop but not n sand where he hooks up better. well cya remember ride red ride smart and most importantly ride hard!!!!!!!!!

Dill & Warpt13,
Finally some people who are honest...WOW what a shocker!! Those speeds are also my findings as well. I have argued these speeds with many. But, you know how it goes, liars are impossible to argue with.
I am right with you two. An average weight rider on a stocker gets...70-72 Banshee, 68-70 TRX250R, 63-65 400EX.

I've been reading the atv connection for quite some time now and never felt the need to register until now. However, I do enjoy reading all the great posts from the likes of tree farmer and the rest.
I realize I shouldn't even waste my breath on claims like 400exalltheway's, but I've seen this too much and it really bugs me! I doesn't matter if you weigh 2 pounds and your machine is piped cammed, ported, polished, air box gone... whatever, your machine WILL not go any faster than what is mathmatically possible. With a given gear and sprocket ratio, along with a given rev. box limiter - that's how fast a machine will go. It ain't rocket science! On the 400ex, for example, its average max speed is about 63-65. It will not go faster because of the gear and sprocket ratios and rev. box. If these aren't modified - you ain't going any faster. period. Thanks for letting me vent.
