OK, I have a Suzuki and a Honda. I've ridden a Recon quite a bit but never an Ozark.

Both are excellent bikes - reliable, fun to ride and priced the same. Our next ATV purchase will be one of these and most likely will be the Ozark. I think Suzuki parked a Recon in their design lab and used it as a model to make a bike that is just a little bit better in most areas. If you think that a fraction of a second more speed, 1/2" more suspension and disc brakes up front are important, then get the 'zark. Other than that, get the one that you like the looks of or that you can get the best deal on. You really can't go wrong with either one.

Though I'm a Honda fan, I think Ozark wins this contest. If you can wait until March, you could consider the sportified Ozark, to be known as the Z250. The 250 class currently offers great bang for the buck, and you can use aftermarket mods to get respectable performance. Enjoy!

I have had a Recon and it was a great machine. The only real complaint I ever had was the front brakes were weak and needed frequent adjustment. I have the 250EX now and it has disc brakes which are a big improvement. Honda should use them on the Recon. The Ozark has disc brakes up front and is a little better in several different ways such as acceleration and ride. Why settle for a machine that is almost as good when for the same money you can get the better one? Get the Ozark.

The Recon has never had disc brakes. Very few Hondas do. As far as I know, only the sport machines do.

Default recon or ozark?

I just took out our new Ozark to Pismo and was very suprised at how much power it has, I weight 240 lbs. and was able to climb any and every hill on my wifes Ozark. People complain about the shifting but I think they just don't understand the way it shifts, usually when you lift up on the shifter you feel a click caused by shifting, but on the Ozark the shift doesn't engage until you let off on the shifter. Its wierd at first but you get use to it.

My 2 cents.

Both are good machines, Ozark is more up to date with better brakes, engine and suspension. I drag raced my buddy's Recon against another friend's Ozark, the Ozark would just walk off and leave me after 3rd gear. MUCH faster than the Recon.
