250ex tires
#2
I put 22X10X9 Gators on mine. They were maybe 1/4" shorter than the stock tires. They are much stiffer than the ballon tires that come on it making it feel more stable. They drastically improved traction in all situations. You will be amazed how well the EX will go through mud. My brother's Wolverine with the stock tires couldn't do much better than my 250. Mostly due to low weight combined with high traction.

Tom,
We took the stock tires off of SparkyEX's Cannondale (ITP Holeshots with a bigger rim offset) and put them on his wife's ex after he bought a new set for the Dale. the bigger offset mixed with the flat style sport tires in the rear made it handle better as well as a major jump in stability. I think if you shop around you can find holeshots for $110 for just two tires or around $150 two tires mounted on rims. If you want the bigger offset just ask for Cannondale offset.

pensy250ex,
If you are going to get tires for it, might I suggest 4 plys for it. Holeshots, Razrs and Shredders all come in a 4 ply as well as 6 ply. Get the 4 ply, as they are much lighter then their six ply brothers. Weight (more specifically, rolling mass) is your enemy on that little machine. As the only way to keep the gearing stock on the machine is to make sure that you get the same size rears, that pretty much leaves out the Holeshots. The Holeshot XCTs (22") only come in 6 ply. The Razrs come in a 22", 4 ply rears. I'm not sure about the Shredders.

I run Holeshot XC's on all by sport bikes. They are mounted on ITP rims, that have a greater offset than stock. This makes the bike 3" wider in back and 2" in front. The stock 250 is a bit tippy, and pushes a bit in turns, and this cures both nicely!!!

What type of terrain do you ride in?? My brother has some razors on his 400ex and he really likes them. They gave him alot more traction and better wear over the stock ones. If you ride any mud you should consider some gators or realtors. I really like my bearclaws on my recon, they are a good trail tire and are still a little sporty.
