My friend and I have been battleing for a few years with quads and he seemed to be having better luck with quads than me but i think my skills are a bit better. I had a blaster for a while and his 300 would spank me but now i have a 250R. We didnt ride too much together in the summer when i got it but now when theres snow on the ground we always ride. His STOCK 300ex is always ahead when were maxed out put i can always pull away slowly but surely. On the frozen ground (no snow) i can kill him off the line and stay ahead but in the snow he kills me either way. I have everything listed on the bottom of my post and all he has are Mud Buster rear tires and i have holeshot mx. Is it the snow that the Busters do better? Because when im pinned theres still a huge roost of snow behind me and my tires are going a mile a minute. But i dont really care about the snow but in the summer im worried when the dirt is soft. I know i can beat him but its not by alot. And my highest consern is he is getting a 400ex and i think im in trouble... someone please help! i dont want to be beaten on a 250R by a 400ex! and another question... how should a drag between a 400ex and a R be?

I ran Holeshots on my 1997 Sport and all they did was make really nice rooster tails of snow. My Trailblazer actually hooked up better and beat me out of the hole. Embarassing to say the least. If you want a flat profile tire that works well in the snow (or mud) get the Pure Sports Realtors. Turn them one way for mud and reverse them (or just swap right and left wheels) for snow. get the 22" tires, they actually measure closer to 20" from what I've seen.

If that thing is ported with a pipe and other mods.... there MUST be something drastically wrong!
That thing should eat a 400EX for breakfast!
Snow is not a good place to race in comparison.... way too much wheel spin on a strong runner. Tire choice could make a big difference.... Still think you have something wrong if he's anywhere in the same county as you in the dirt!

yeah, im aware there is something wrong with my r. because i had a blaster before this and i didnt notice much of a difference wich is a really bad thing. I wish i knew what was wrong with the thing so i can fix it. Ive brought it to a shop a few times and they say it runs great (starts 1st kick most of the time) and it has alot of *****. But than again ive never ridden another R exept for mine so i dont know how fast they should be and the shop i bring it to... they are not exatcly R experts but i KNOW it should kill alot of quads. I live in New Jersey and ive never seen another 250r around here. I plan to go to Jack Frost in P.A. this summer and i hope someone can help me out. If anybody who reads this lives in new jersey around warren county please e-mail me and we can meet or something. Cujo63000@yahoo.com thanks
