Default Honda CR500!!

Actually I decided to buy a decent 1989 Honda 250R Fourtrax and redo it from top to bottom and inside out. All Chrome, the BEST suspension, lots of billet, etc.. I want it low and fast.... I heard that the 425cc kit is excellent for the 250R base or maybe a 300cc kit. Not sure yet...

I am very confident about the 250R motor. I am happy with this decision. Do you all agree?

I saw one in Sand Sports magazine tricked out and that turned me on to it. I actually like the old 89 frame better than my 400ex frame.

I will give more updates when I locate a good Fourtrax. Let me know if you know of any good ones for sale...

Thanks everyone!!

Greg

Hay building the 250r that much will take it toll on the tranny just ask the guy's that have the 330 and 370 kits. As for the cr 500 in a EX frame easy as cake anti vib steering stem helps the vib a lot and as for fast ya iiits fast. Mine is an 85 motor if I had to do it agin I would use an 86 on up. They came with larger staters so you can run your haed light. One of the other guys on the board siad some thing about lighter banchee's No banchee that I been around weighs less than my 500. and its all about power to weight ratio.

P.S. No brocken motor mounts to date.

LOL the 330 and 370 kits dont do jack to a honda tranny. I know of 120 horse hondas running 250r bottom ends and they hold up just fine

If it's an ATK bike... motor you plan to use, it will be a Rotax, (austrian built Bombardier) It will be a good motor, canadian honda!

Airraptor.. If you do get a hold of one keep us posted, it would make an awsome powerplant.

Wow, what a hot topic!!!
The CR motor in the R chassis is a fun powerful ride... but they do VIBRATE!!!! In fact, I've lost a filling or two! LOL!

I've got an '86 250R chassis with an '85 CR500 motor in it FOR SALE really cheap! I know.... Big surprise, but hey... until you've experienced it, it seems like a great idea!

I will crate and ship, so fire me an email if you want to know more!

1988 was the most powerful . 62hp. In 89 they put a grove in the cylinder to make it easier to start and dropped the power to 55.
