18" Shredders vs. 18" Fast Trekkers
#3
i need new tires for my trx 250r and i needed some opinions on what to get, i have shredders now and they are a good tire but how do fast trekkers hold up, do they last a long time?, do they hook up good in loose and hard dirt?

I run 20" Fast Trekkers on the back of my DS650, previously had 20" holeshots, the fast trekkers are a couple pounds heaver, the tread is a bit taller(ie may last longer) than the holeshots, i run them backwords, look super cool hook up very well, the same or better than the holeshots, i have only run them on hard packed and they seem to be wearing about the same rate as the holeshots, i had them in mud one time, they threw hella roost, way more than the holeshots, probaly due to the fact i run them backwords so the inner tread is kinda like a paddle, the next time i go to buy tires? i will either buy another set of trekkers or might try the new taller RAZR's, hope this helps a small amount

The trekkers hook! I have the 20" on my banshee, 18" on my atc250r, and a set of 18" for a spare set for the banshee. I have tried Razr's, original holeshots, and shredders. THe trekkers hook the best. However, I notice a lot of vibration at high (above 75mph) speeds. Others haven't noticed this. It could be from my wheel bearings going out. I am in the process of putting new bearings in now.
The razr's suck. They don't hook. THe holeshots wear too easy. The shredders would be my second choice, but the trekkers just look so much cooler.
What size wheels are you running? I have a set of trekkers 18" for 10" wheel I have thought about getting rid of. Very little sidewall due to the small tire/large wheel. They have about 95% tread.

I have 18" shredders on an 8" rim, they hook up good and they last a long time, unlike holeshot that only last about 3 months tops. I think ill just go with trekkers because razrs are too expensive, holeshots just plain suck, and i have shredders now. How much do u want for those trekkers i know some1 that will take them off your hands. thnx for all the advice

razrs dont suck.they HOOK UP in loose pack and thats what i mostly ride and yes i know they dont hook up on hard pack you can tell by just looking at them.they are fine if you ride loose pack.im not sure bout fast trekkers.never had them or seen anybody with them.

I had 18" trekkers on my r, they lasted about 9 rides. I got holeshots MX and I feel they hook up better, they have better lateral traction, the trekkers slide way too easy. As for wear, I've ridden on them about 20+ ride and still have more than 70 % tread. Before the trekkers I have 20" shredders and after 30+ rides they almost looked new.

really only nine rides??? what kind of rides are these? i had 22" trekkers on my old blaster and they lasted forever, i would even burn them out on the street, and powerslide on the street, and skid on the street and i never saw any visible wear... maybe it was the size and the power of the bike.... has anyone else had trekkers that only lasted hours? and what would be better 18 or 20 "?

I don't know what to tell you. They where 18" on 10" wheels. They looked cool as hell but didn't last. I think it was due to the fact that the knobbies are spaced out so far. Also I could light them up taking off in 3rd gear on pavement.
Still the holeshot and shredders are lasting much longer.
