rjb, what is your cost on one of eddies units?
I feel the esr (CR) is the best unit on the market, simply because its a bolt on and its very reliable. With the msd you have a battery you need to run, and that can be a pain if your lazy like i am. So other ignitions are the pvl which is a "set" ignition where you only have 1 set timing advance or retard (opposed to timing curves), these work great on drag bikes, and there is also a dyna system with also works good on drag bikes. If your just screwing around i would go with the CR ignition because of its light weight and versatility

DaBeechMan, I have one of the older internal rotor Motoplat ignitions for my drag 250R. Would you recommend staying with it, or going with the newer PVL internal rotor igntion, or some other ignition setup? I have studied up on the banshe stuff, but am new to the R building.

To be honest alk, id recommend the pvl (or motoplat) for the banshee's that do their straight line drag's. They seem to like them. On the honda's they REALLY like the benefit of the timing curves, i know a lot of people arent happy with their pvl's on their honda's, but they are sunk so deep in the money that they cant afford to at least try the cr or msd. Id stick with the cr personally because the advantage of the cr curve really helps in more then just racing (even though they dont do bad on the hill). We have the new pvl setup, and i havent even paid attention to the older motoplats to be honest. I'll see if i cant get some info for you though. Besides, its a real bit*h to try to kick a honda over with a +_ advance? foghettaboutit!

The main reason I like the idea of the internal rotor was the increase response and acceleration due to less flywheel weight. In your experiences, do the R's do better with a heavier flywheel or lighter ones in DRAG ONLY situations? As you might remember, I have the dyna for my banshees and the programming software. I love this ignition, but the motoplat came with the engine so I thought it might be better. I don't like the MSD because it uses the seperate battery that must be kept charged.
I am not really familiar with the rotor ignitions. Do they only have one degree of fixed advance, or is it just a fixed curve? Is the ESR CR adjustable?
