250ex carb questions
#1
I pulled float bowl off the carb to change the main jet. There was a pink plastic collar like a trumpet end laying in the float bowl. Where does this go, and what keeps it there? It seems to slip off the shaft that holds the pilot and main jets when the float bowl comes apart. Is there a better way to change jets? Thanks in advance.

I found the answer. That part is called the jet holder, and serves some kind of purpose to keep flow of gas constant. Mine is worn and doesn't stay on the bottom of the pilot jet, but I put it together as best I could. Then I replaced the fouled spark plug and it started up right off. The 92 jet is a noticeable improvement over the 89 and the 95 jets I tried before. Elevation here is 4500'. I have replaced the airbox lid with an Outerwear fabric lid, otherwise it is stock. I have read about adjusting the clip on the needle of the slide, but this carb has no clip or other needle adjustment I can find. I've seen the clip on several other carbs. Am I missing something obvious, or is there no clip?
