what would cause this?.... brake question....

Its the little O-ring that seals the piston shaft that goes through to the parking brake. I don't know how many times I have said, "Next time, I am cutting the shaft off and welding the hole!" I seem to go through a lot of these seals in various bikes. The seal only comes in a rebuild kit from honda and I think the kit is around $15. The kit has this o-ring, a seal, and a dust seal. The O-ring is tricky to get in and be careful reinstalling the piston because you can nick the O-ring and damage it.
I have some 250R rear calipers if interested. A friend is trying to adapt one to his banshee or run it along with the banshee rear caliper. THis is on his TT bike where rear brakes are VERY important. Your rear brake has to make the bike slide into a turn at 50MPH.

About the stock raptor stock 250r thing. I play around. i really dont give a damn about what is faster. I think everybody here knows that i play around when that subject comes up. Mainly because it comes up over and over and over again. But im sure a man of your limited but godly knowledge knew that right?

yup x, you were right, didnt even have an o-ring, well, i had a piece of it, sticking out of the parking brake hole..go figure..lol..how difficult would it be to weld up the hole

You need to disassemble the unit and heli-arc the hole and fill it in. Make sure all the seals and what not are removed. I missed a seal in there someplace and it was a bi*ch to fish out all that rubber. LOL
