Default Motor Heat - 250X

Spent the past wknd riding the gigantic sand dunes of Glamis, CA...........ABSOLUTELY EPIC!

Anyway, trying to keep up dunning with guys from my camp that had 250R's, Raptors, and dune buggies, I was screaming my completely bone stock(except K&N & tires) '87 250X Fourtrax motor with my paddle tires on getting up hills and hauling *** around huge sand bowls. Anyway, when we stopped to take a break, and I stayed sitting on my 250X, it felt like I was sitting on a camp fire, the motor was so damn hot! It's a great bike, it takes a licking and keeps on ticking. But, seriously, will that much heat start to destroy my motor? I thought, as long as I keep fresh oil in it, it should be fine, right? I use 20W50 Spectro Gold Synthetic blend. Air temp when we were riding was about 60-70F.

I'm thinking about buying a used 400EX this summer. Will a 400EX run just as hot when dunning it as hard I was this past wknd?

Put it on alcohol, it'll stay cool. That's what I did to mine!

Seriously, an oil cooler will do wonders. JAGG makes a great cooler that I have ran. It really works.
