My last bike was a 400EX.Yes it is VERY reliable.Yes it handles awesome.Yes it is underpowered. If you dont want a Powerhouse the EX is an excellent ride.Consider a Kawi or Suzuki 400 they have more power and handle as good as an EX. late, zubbeyboy

I'm thinking of a 400 ex too. How much do they cost? You say the suk 400 is pretty good too, but are they as reliable and easy to work on as the ex? I really didn't think about the suk that much.

The EX is VERY reliable like Lateralus says, I think it will outlast a z400, the z does have its advantages though liquid cooled, DOHC, reverse...

Ya i know that the KFX is a bit better! But what i really want to know is if the 400ex is a good pit bike! And i think no matter what! Compared to my MOJAVE the 400ex will feel liek a power house! And I dont have that kinda of cash toi get one of the KFX Iam only 16 took me long enought to get enought to maby buy the 400ex!
I was also thinking about maby a banshee? what are they liek compared to teh 400ex? not power wise cuz i know the banshee kills it! But in jumping and handleing and stuff!
Thanks guy keep the info coming

the 400 ex is a proven quad! But I would go with the z 400

Many of the people I ride with have 400Ex's and love them. I think that best thing about them is the simplicity. Honda may not have the fastest or the newest tech but what they use is generally proven. My civic still uses a distributor in an age where everyone uses ignition modules! My friend moved from a Mojave up to a 400EX and he is very happy with it. I will never be able to ride like him. He USES it and it has been WAY more reliable than the Mojave.
