Was the problem within the first few hours on the machine though? I know that the tranny sucks, I wont debate that. I was just drawing a conclusion based on forum posts.

Maddog 56 My first tranny went out about 8 months after purchase dealer fixed it. Now the newer tranny is acting up and there is probly not 50 hours on it. 20 hours inthe dunes and the rest is trail riding

Ouch. Sorry to hear about that. I can only imagine how frustrating it is that the company hasnt worked with the 01 owners. I know they have lost a lot of business because of it.

I just got rid of my 400ex that I owned for quite some time. I don't know how much you're interested in doing to your 400, but I'll just say that a cam, an .080 over 11:1 JE piston, DMC pipe, K&N and a little jetting can do WONDERS. For my riding, I also put a 16 tooth countershaft sprocket on also. Unfortunately I never got to race a rappy in a drag, but on the moto track (where rider ability can greatly effect results), I could smoke rappys, and out drag them on the straights. Oh yeah, I also upgraded my rev limiter too. Don't forget to open up the airbox lid or drill holes or else it won't run right with the new cam. Overall, this isn't too expensive if you do the work yourself, which isn't too hard if you can work with a few tools. Something to keep in mind anyway. This should cure those power prayers you're having. lol.

I think im jsut going to stay with exhaust, K&N, and the rev thingy on this bike. I beefed up my raptor a bit and blew the motor. And that was no fun. I didnt do anythign wrong either. A valve just became unseated and slamed the valve into the piston. I think i can handle the 400 with minor upgrades untill the new honda comes out.

I would not waste your money on the WB rev box. I had one on my 400ex and all that it did was make it harder to start. All of the ex's power is low to mid and it does not make hardly any power in the top end unless you chang cams and bore.
