it would be hard to find a donor engine. Bike engines are difficult to use because of the extreme vibration. There are options like street bike engines, snomobiles, and larger quads that you could steal from, but the work and money required to swap and engine and fabricate a mounting structure would be quite a large factor. You can do it, its been done. The question is how bad do you want it?

ok, no flaming now.
The sheer cost of having someone do an engine swap for your 400ex would be darn near 5K, or more. DONT DO THIS. It does not seem like you know your way around engines enough to keep something like this running after you have it built, because i am sure you would not be able to build this on your own. In fact, only a very small percentage of people on this forum could ever even approach a problem like this.
If you want something faster, upgrade to a big bore quad. Thats all i have to say.

Yeah, I'm down with that, Joe Cool. It's just that you ask if you should buy either a 250X, a 250EX, or a 250R. Then, you say you have a 400EX, but want to put a 600EX???motor in it, yet, you have a DS650 Baja as your avatar. Am I the only one that smells a rat in QuadLand?
