Well my parking brake didn't work anyways and its a good way to shave some weight. Also I like the way the brake caliper looks with the parking brake linkage off with the plate over it. If my parking brake did work I think i would have prolly kept it.

Mine didn't work either after about 2 rides but it was still under warranty so I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the brakecable for free.

i thinki id have to agree with you there because the 400ex is about the most reliable quad you can get

Yea the 400 is realiable but thats about it...compared to an R anyway. If you ever want to get up to speed with the big bore quads your going to have to dump about 3-5k into it to keep up. With a 250R port and polish the cylinder ($250-500 depending on who does it) and you'll be smoking DS's like nothing, trust me I know. My brother regrets getting his 400 he wishes he would of just bought an R. Oh and the comments about the frame being the same, its not the same! The 400 uses a cheap round tube frame (which has already cracked in two places on my brothers) while the R uses a strong square tube which can really take some abuse. I have stock suspension on mine and I hit some pretty big jumps and it hasnt cracked.
